Biography
From an early age, Mandy Motionless realized that she had a love for all things creative and artistic. These interested have lead her to choose a career path that allows her to express that love and drive in a multitude of areas.
Growing up in Corona, California with a comic book artist father, Mandy was introduced to conventions and selling one’s artwork from the time she was born. At age 16, Mandy began to create drawings and paintings. She then started to vend her work at comic conventions across the country. It was at one such convention that Mandy met Brian Pulido, the owner of Coffin Comics and the creator of the popular series, Lady Death. After seeing her work, Brian commissioned Mandy to create an exclusive Lady Death cover to be debuted at the San Diego Comic Con.

Mandy has also begun teaching others the art of painting and has been doing so for three years; doing both private teaching and live painting events, she has made a performance out of teaching others the techniques of the old masters.
Because Mandy sees the juxtaposition of light versus dark as a driving force in her life and art, she focuses on showing the beauty and fragility of the human form while pulling the viewer into the touch-ability of the darkest that inhabits our normal and mundane lives. Adding hints of nostalgia and historical references, her art combines the love of darker topics with the imagery and beauty of the past.
Mandy has completed her Bachelors degree in Fine Arts from the Laguna College of Art and Design in the summer of 2019.
Artist Statement
I am drawn into the world of soft figures and dainty poses. Although the allure of soft and feminine figures pulls me in, I love to explore the murky aspects of human nature and the feelings therein. After I saw death firsthand, I realized that my art needed to have a stronger connection to our deepest fears - which is death and the isolation therein. In each of my pieces, I contrast the beautiful figure with an isolated or looming background. The porcelain subject, almost luminescent against the darkness of the background pulls the viewer into the artwork. But the looming, stagnant, and dark background give the pieces a more isolated feel. I want the viewer to understand that there are two contrasting forces in the world and one can not exist without the other.
